New game....

One of my favorite things back when ESPN.com
used to not completely suck was the old
"guess the box-score" game (whatever they called it).
They had a whole season's worth of old historic and
important games box-scores, and you had to
guess why it was important.
It was often challenging and was usually very fun.
I thought I might try that over here now and then.
I'll start here tonight with one quick easy one,
mostly because I wanted a quick easy excuse to put
this beautiful thing up and because it will cover up
Mike's crappy UM entry...
Since I'll stick to mostly Marlins-related stuff,
they'll be mostly easy, I imagine.

Here goes - everyone recognize the box-score?

Opening Day - 1993. Hough's record is the clincher.

This is fun though.

I wonder if David Pinto of Baseball Musings was a part of this era of ESPN.com.

How'd you post the box score in like that?

I believe Jim Caple was doing those. Not that I am claiming that Jim Caple ever had anything to do with ESPN.com not sucking...

I just cut and pasted from retrosheet -

http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B04050FLO1993.htm

I've had that one bookmarked for a while. Sentimental attachment. I'll find some more challenging ones and put them up later. Sound worthwhile?

I had to tinker a bit withthe box-score. but it mostly came right easy withth cut and paste. I was real surprised myself. I just tried it on a whim. Can't sleep. Too much shit going in my head...

I love the concept. But you should put them up at FishStripes. :-)

Eh. This site is much better. Fishstripes has completely outlived it's usefulness.

Heh.
